GEN//MUSE is a new donor commissioning circle led by Muses Trio, designed to support women composers through direct commissioning, visibility, and legacy-building. Each year, a new composer is selected to create a work that reflects the depth and diversity of Australia’s creative landscape.

Help Muses Trio bring a brand new composition to life.

We are raising funds to commission emerging Brisbane-based composer and violinist Abigail Lui to create a new work for Muses Trio. This piece will premiere on tour around International Women’s day in 2026 as part of our GEN // MUSE initiative, championing the next generation of female creative voices.

This is more than a fundraiser, it’s an invitation to become a creative partner in shaping Australia’s musical future. Together, we ensure that women’s voices continue to be heard, celebrated, and elevated. GEN//MUSE marks a new chapter in how we support women composers.

For our inaugural year, your donations goes directly towards commissioning Abigail’s new work, supporting the workshopping, documenting and studio recording, ensuring her music is shared with audiences and amplifying the voices of women in music. 

This commission will take centre stage in a drivable micro-tour to coincide with International Women’s Day, featuring concerts, school workshops, community events and creative partnerships. Your contribution will help us bring more than just a tour of performances. It’s about building new audiences, representation, storytelling and inspiration.

About Abigail Lui.
Abigail Lui is a composer and violinist inspired by the stories that help us make sense of the world. She is already gaining recognition for her bold and intuitive writing, including receiving ABC Classic’s Composer Commissioning Fund in 2024, and was Camerata’s Emerging Composer in Residence in 2025.
