Women in Music

Originally presented as the Dreaming BIG 2015 concert series launch,  Women in Music with the Muses Piano Trio is performed by some of Australia’s leading and most exciting musicians in contemporary classical music. This beautiful chamber music event, celebrates music written by women, played by women. Yes, men are very welcome to attend!

Believing music written by women deserves to be better known by audiences, Muses Trio unearths hidden musical treasures from across the globe, from living Australian composers Kate Neal, Betty Beath and Cécile Elton, to those who have been overlooked by history: Cécile Chaminade, Amy Beach, Germaine Tailleferre, Vitezslava Kapralova, bringing these impressive works to the concert stage. If you have a passion for trying new things and are musically adventurous, this program is not to be missed

Composer Betty Beath on Women in Music: “Louise  and Christa…I think your interpretation of the Encounters pieces was outstanding.  The energy and vitality you brought to “Let’s Dance” was terrific…I loved it and, of course, the warmth of tone and phrasing in “A Loving Embrace” captured what I had hoped was there in the work.  Thank-you so much… So good to see you working together presenting seldom heard works…”
